MBA 2nd-year

After 5-years overseas working in the IT industry, I was looking for one business program with an international orientation, a well-made small class and a multinational student profile. IUJ’s diverse student body, customized Japanese language programs, strong networking with leading Japanese companies and international business training were the main reasons I chose IUJ to further develop my career path.

In addition to IUJ’s systematic MBA curriculum, since IUJ students come from around 50 countries, I’m extremely fond of the international environment at IUJ, including class participation, case discussions and cross cultural programs. All the IUJ students living on campus are just like one close family and a small global village, sharing business ideas and different perspectives on analytical cases as well as happiness and sadness with each other in numerous clubs and extracurricular activities.

Furthermore, IUJ offers customized and organized Japanese language programs and there are also various opportunities for intensive interaction with the local community to learn Japanese and Japanese culture, making us more competitive for job hunting in Japan. Moreover, having a strong network with many well-known Japanese corporations and several top global business schools, IUJ can provide more chances to get us involved in the Japanese business network and also provide exchange programs in our 2nd year. In my case, I’m a KMMF scholar, funded by Matsushita, as well as an exchange student in the Tuck business program, expanding my horizons of the real business world.

I believe that studying at IUJ has become one of my most cherished and unforgettable life experiences. If you're also looking for such a business program, you are most welcome to join our IUJ Family!

International University of Japan to me is a place for an all-in-one experience; Knowledge, opportunity, diversity and certainly fun.
Knowledge: The MBA program here not only expands my knowledge of the business world, but also allows me to broaden my perspective on different sides of business. The availability of wide-ranging courses in Management, Finance, Marketing, IT & Operation gives me the chance to explore and specialize in one that I like.  The renowned and experienced professors at IUJ not only challenge us with real business cases but also encourage us to develop and discuss our ideas. This is very relevant to my future career.
Opportunity: With the help of the student and career services at IUJ, I got the opportunity to study at IUJ with a scholarship and also obtained an internship in Japan. It is here that I have the chance to apply the knowledge that I have learnt in a real-life situation. Through the exchange program, I also experienced studying abroad in the US. All this can only be achieved with the help of the kind, supportive faculty and staff members at IUJ.
Diversity: IUJ has a substantial international environment, with students from 50 different countries. Since the MBA program focuses a lot on teamwork, I learnt how to work with people from different countries and cultures, which is essential in global corporations.
Fun: I embrace the close-knit family-like community that IUJ has; everybody knows everyone and people are very helpful. It’s the people and our creativity that bring out the fun. In addition, Japan itself has more fun activities, places and interesting festivals than there is free time in the busy MBA schedule. Although time management is a challenge, it enriches my student life in IUJ.
This all-in-one experience plus the fact that IUJ is a leading business school in Japan, make my days at IUJ even more valuable.

With the numbers of MBAs booming, the world's key MBA destinations are seeing the number and quality of courses increase. What sets the MBA offered at IUJ apart from other MBAs? The key benefits of the program can be summarized in three words - development, opportunity and network.

During the 1st year of an innovative and diverse MBA program with the focus on rapidly developing Asian markets I have been able to develop my knowledge in multiple disciplines, including softer skills such as leadership and people management. IUJ, being the top business school in Japan, offers professional opportunities to get deeply involved in a topic or industry of your choice. The professors, who received their PhDs from well-known universities in the USA and Japan, provide students with a thorough grounding in the most up-to-date business management theory and research methods. As the MBA program at IUJ is relatively small in size, students enjoy personal attention and are able to interact on a one-on-one basis with both professors and fellow students. In addition, students have access to top multinational companies through organized fieldtrips, guest lectures and internships.

Moreover, at IUJ there is an opportunity to steep in the unique Japanese culture, learn another business mindset and pick up some fluency in the Japanese language. In addition to rigorous study, students have great opportunities to enjoy themselves and make lasting relationships. IUJ students are from more than 50 countries with different cultures and backgrounds in various business environments. In such a diverse community students are able to build cross-cultural business networks on which they can draw throughout their careers and have friends all over the world.

These new experiences and relationships are very beneficial to IUJ graduates in the future. IUJ is indeed a wonderful place for self-development, an opportunity to be a part of amazing community and an awesome place to socialize!

What is so special about the IUJ’s MBA Program is that you can spend a very intensive 2 years in a family-like close-knit community with classmates from all over the globe.

The number of MBA holders is rapidly increasing, and it is very important what kind of skills and knowledge you acquire in what kind of environment. At IUJ, students not only can learn about the overwhelmingly fast-growing Asian markets in English from prominent professors, but they can also study together with classmates from about 50 different countries. I have no doubt that the friends I have made and my cross-cultural communication experiences at IUJ will have a huge impact on my future.

Please let me give you an example of how diverse IUJ classes can be. In one of the courses I took, “Corporate Social Responsibility,” we had a discussion about the business of a world-famous shoe manufacturer. The discussion was had among students from the US, where the manufacturer is based, students from Japan and France, where the firm’s major customers are, students from Thailand and Vietnam, where many of the company’s factories are operating, those from the Philippines and Myanmar, who are wishing to attract such factories, and so forth. I believe that this kind of experience in such diversity will surely develop key capabilities as a business person and expand my personal magnetism.

Another big strength of the IUJ-MBA is that students can take courses offered by the Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR) as well. Many of the GSIR students are dispatched from the governments of various countries, and discussions among students with public and business backgrounds naturally get very stimulating. I work for an energy company whose operation is greatly influenced by public policies, and experience and knowledge I acquire in such GSIR courses will be very helpful in my future career.

Urasa, where IUJ is located, is only 1.5 hours away from Tokyo, and at the same time it sits in a very remote area. Here at IUJ, students can not only focus on studies while receiving warm support extended from the President, faculty, and all other IUJ counterparts, but also enjoy extracurricular activities such as local festivals held in this gorgeous natural environment. I believe that when I graduate, the 2 years at IUJ will provide so many unforgettable memories and huge value added to my professional life.

I hope that YOU will become a member of this IUJ family and spend a wonderful time!
